Reason for the Season?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Christian through and through. I get annoyed by holiday catch-phrases though. Like the, “Jesus is the reason for the season” pins? Or emails? 100 a day?

The truth of the matter is that the axial tilt of the Earth is the reason for the season. Or any season for that matter.

I’m just sayin’…

UPDATE: If you have a T-Shirt that says, “The Axial Tilt of the Earth is the Reason for the Season” — I might buy one. 🙂

  1. Hahaha!! That is the best thing ever! I get really annoyed too. I also get annoyed at Christians (& those dastardly politicians) who think they might be offending people who are not Christian by all the hoopla that goes on at Christmas. Interesting fact – these non-Christians don’t care! It’s not their holiday, so it means nothing to them.
A few years ago, there was a big uproar around here about the big Christmas tree that is in Nathan Phillips Square near city hall in Toronto (not as big as Rockefeller Christmas tree, but same idea). Some politician decided that in order to not put any religious signifigance on the tree, we should call it a holiday tree. Well! You wouldn’t believe the mess this caused. My minister even did a whole sermon about it and he was getting very worked up. (He is usually so calm & soothing – not that day). Anyhow, it took the mayor of Toronto at the time to come out and say ‘Look. It’s a Christmas tree. It’s not a holiday tree. It’s a Christmas tree. It’s nothing else. We light it at Christmas, it’s part of the celebration of Christmas. Call it what it is. End of story.’ Finally, someone has the bullocks to stick up for “the season”. And the mayor was Jewish!
