More Linux (Eee PC Review)

I’ve been pretty scarce around here lately, and it’s been because I’ve had both writing and video deadlines. 2 more videos just went live on the Linux Journal website, so please go there and let me know what you think. :) Check the comments on their site for the second video.

And here’s the direct links for those who can’t see the embedded videos on the Linux Journal site. Watch this first, and then this.

Enjoy!

Very cool. You’re famous! Sorta. :) And you do the tech reporter thing very well.

Cute little box too!

Thanks. :) It’s almost sinfully fun to make the videos.

Hmmm… I ordered one of those OLPC laptops that Pixelfish was pimping on Whateveresque. Now I’m wondering how the EeePC compares. Same price range (well, if you account for the fact that buying one = buying two and the second one goes to a child in a third world country), same size, runs on Linux, etc. Possibly using some of the same technology?

Dude, there is something seriously wrong with you. Toe-socks?

Hee!

I think my old blackberry was about the same size as that laptop.

Dude, you’re killing me. God, that MePC spoof is hysterical. I’ve got a splitting headache this morning, and you’re not helping! I’m laughing my ass off and it’s making my head pound! User serviceable hinge, stop it.

Love the XKCD t-shirt.

Thanks, I love the shirt too, but it SUCKS wearing it in public. Try to explain that to the average Joe. I lament here about it too.

And I got my first bad reviews on the Linux Journal site! I must be big time now. :)

My response to anybody who asked about the T-shirt would probably be a quizzical arched eyebrow, followed with “What? How could you not get that? It’s from that Seinfeld episode.” Then just walk away, laughing. Hey, is it my fault that people aren’t up on their Linux? Geeks rule the world nowadays, consider it revenge for years of listening to Jocks talk about the ‘Infield Fly Rule.’

I remember even at that tech conference the shirt got a lot of looks. That must make it easy to pick out who is a windows admin though.

Shawn, I did not know that I was working with an internet star! Great job, very funny and informative. D

Shawn, you have a future in television, I’m tellin’ ya.

The spoof is fried gold.

I love the “any” key, I just saw that Simpsons episode and knew exactly what you were referencing. You also did a great job drawing while talking.

Thanks so much for sharing it with us!
